Major Operator achieves 48% Data Capacity Increase

Accommodating the seasonal shifts in a university population can be a challenge, especially with the proliferation of smartphones and the high volume of data calls at peak times. One New England university town operator is improving their customers’ experience by increasing its network’s capacity in both voice and data with Quintel. In addition to a more than 48% increase in data calls, the carrier noted that virtually all Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) had improved without negatively impacting existing 2G services.

By implementing Quintel’s Sectorization in the Vertical Plane (SVP) solution, spectrum and antenna-limited sites were able to rapidly and cost-effectively realize additional capacity gains during peak data usage periods. And, the operator could choose to load balance and maintain the same capacity gains while allocating the increased bandwidth between voice and data.
